Calvin Klein's event in Seoul, South Korea, last night was all about making connections—digital and analog. For realization of the concept, the destination had to be special. And, yes, the rooftop party zone above Seoul Station did surprise, kitted out as it was with a long gray carpet, bars, lounges, and media galleries, as well as a terrace overlooking a 23-story building across the street. Projected onto the structure's facade was an installation by New York-based digital artist Rafaël Rozendaal, MuchBetterThanThis.Com, featuring multicolored silhouettes of people kissing.

Adding to the evening's glamour quotient were Kate Bosworth and Chloë Moretz, making rare appearances in Korea. Moretz, star of the new Dark Shadows, said it was her mother who got her into wearing Calvin Klein. And there was no shortage of Korean celebrities, either—from Lee Hyori, Yoon Eun-hye, and Go Ara to supermodel Lee Hyun Yi and the K-pop band EXO-K—all dressed in minimalist Calvin Klein.

Creative director Francisco Costa worked the crowd with Lara Stone on his arm. Having visited South Korea a few times already, the globe-trotting designer was optimistic about the future: "We chose Seoul Station, an important landmark in the world's most digitally advanced country," he said, because "we wanted to show our global connectivity through media, art, and fashion."

Speaking of connectivity, in addition to Rozendaal's installation, the media artist Scott Snibbe and the collective Flightphase, in collaboration with New York's New Museum of Contemporary Art, showed their works against a presentation of the Fall 2012 offerings from all of the Calvin Klein lines. The night's most popular spot was where top model Matthew Terry posed in nothing but the brand's signature briefs. Let's just say it was the smartphones doing the talking.

A weather forecast promising rain doesn't bode well for a garden party, but that didn't stop a slew of boldfacers from making their way to MoMA's annual fête in the Abby Aldrich Sculpture Garden last night. For some, it was the sentimental value attached to the iconic museum that drew them out. "This was the first museum that I had membership to in 1970… [cough cough]," said Kim Cattrall.

For the artists, it was a reunion of sorts. "I like to see the sculptures outdoors amongst the green, but you can see those all the time," Georgo Condo told Style.com as he arrived. "What I really like is running into people I haven't seen in a while, all the artists—I just saw Richard Serra, I know Ellsworth Kelly is here. You don't get to see them that often because we're all hiding in our studios."

Chuck Close was also in residence, chatting nearby with Cindy Sherman and MoMA's Klaus Biesenbach. "I was in Europe last year during this time, so I can't wait to get to the dance floor tonight," he said. "I go up on my flat wheels and dance in my wheelchair. I have no idea who is performing, but whoever it is, I will boogie to it."

The evening's big act, Santigold, arrived just before dinner started. "Nervous?" someone asked. "No, never," she said. "Well, actually, once I did a private concert and they invited Pharrell and Andy Samberg on the stage and it made me so nervous because there are a lot of wild cards there. But in general, we have a good rhythm going up there."

Around 8 p.m. last night, Cipriani 42nd Street was flooded with a sea of ladies in red dresses who had turned out for El Museo del Barrio's annual spring gala. "It's a Latin event; everybody wears red," explained one partygoer as he watched the likes of Carolina Herrera and Yaz Hernández parade through the entryway. Hernández was wearing a custom Carolina gown—in scarlet, naturally—and before dinner, Herrera presented her with the evening's trustee leadership award. She wasn't the only honoree at the fête; Julianna Margulies had already taken the stage to introduce Narciso Rodriguez. "He is the only designer I have ever known who knows how to cut for a woman's body," she told the crowd. "He really loves women."

Over on the west side, the look was L.E.D., not red, at the Museum of Arts and Design's annual gala. Each year, the museum selects a material as its theme, both for the dress code and to guide the contributions that artists make to its fundraising silent auctions. This year's L.E.D. Ball brought incandescent items from Surface to Air, Jen Kao, and industrial design studios like Rich Brilliant Willing. Light-up fashion was less in evidence on guests like Nate Berkus, Sean Avery, Shenae Grimes, and Patricia Field. No matter. Those who wanted brightening up could step into the on-site "carma wash," courtesy of performance art collective FCKNLZ, offering "aura scrubs" as DJ Chelsea Leyland's tunes blasted in the background.

"More Than War and Sports"

The Whitney American Art Award gala attracted collectors, artists, and admirers alike to a lofty far west Chelsea venue last night. "I'm not artistic. Well, you could say my art is on the tennis court," John McEnroe told Style.com. The tennis ace chatted with Peter M. Brant, who was one of the honorees of the evening, before he did a quick browse of the work up for sale. One memorable digital print of a dollhouse landscape by James Casebere was tagged at $25,000. "I do love and collect art," McEnroe said more seriously. "There's this one guy that I think is pretty good. You might have heard of him: Vincent van Gogh?"

The casual atmosphere carried through dinner and a performance by McEnroe's wife, Patty Smyth. The strong turnout, which included Diane von Furstenberg, Julian Schnabel, and Anh Duong, brought in more than $1.5 million. With teenage sons in tow, Stephanie Seymour Brant discussed modern art—one of her favorite periods. "That's such a tough question," she said when asked about her favorite artists. Although when pushed, she conceded, "I do love Urs Fischer's work." The artist was seated just nearby.

Brant, her husband, was perhaps more decisive. He has been an avid supporter of Jeff Koons' oversize sculptures for some time. When he took the stage to accept his award alongside the Henry Luce Foundation and Ogilvy & Mather, he said, "I'm deeply honored. This fills me with great emotion I can't express. Thanks to my mother and father, who taught me that this world had more to offer than war and sports."
